Riding a wave of good reviews wasn’t enough for Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 1984” which opened to a disappointing $18.8 million in China and a $38.5 million total overseas haul.
The movie opened December 16th across 32 global markets, mostly in Asia, where the virus has been under control. Yet even in markets relatively COVID-free, cinemagoing attendance remains considerably down even when new release titles hit.
In comparison, the 2017 first “Wonder Woman” film made $38 million in China alone…
