Woman dies after highway crash

A woman has died after her car rolled over on the Kennedy Highway, south of Cairns, on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the crash just before 6am at Innot Hot Springs, where the victim, a Mount Garnet woman in her 30s, suffered critical injuries.
The Kennedy Highway was closed in both directions.
Police said the woman was heading west on the highway in the SUV about 5.40am when she lost control and the vehicle rolled.
Police Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski reminded motorists on Thursday that Easter was a high-risk period on the roads.
