Woman dead, five swimmers rescued from Bushrangers Bay on Mornington Peninsula

A woman has died and five people have been taken to hospital after a group of beachgoers were swept off the rocks on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula this afternoon.
Key points:
- Helicopters were used to winch several of the swimmers to safety
- Five people were taken to nearby hospitals at Frankston and Rosebud
- Lifesavers say even if people do not intend to swim, they must be cautious around the ocean
Emergency services helicopters were sent to Bushrangers Bay, near Cape Schanck, shortly after 3:30pm where police believe four people were swept into the ocean.
Victoria Police said two members of the public entered the water to help them.
