While news reports of a man being re-infected with COVID-19 have caused concern, paradoxically they have also raised hopes of the immune system remembering the virus.

This Hong Kong case is different because both times, the virus was genetically sequenced and the strains were different, indicating genuine re-infection.
It is the first laboratory confirmed case of re-infection with a different strain.
The man, 33, was in good health when initially infected. For three days he had a cough, sore throat, fever and headache.
On March 29, a test confirmed COVID-19 and he was hospitalised. After two negative swab tests, he was discharged on April 14.
