Things are a little different for this year’s winners of the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Prize.
Sydney artist Dan Kyle, who paints ethereal studies of the bush near his studio on the fringes of the Wollemi National Park, was unworried to be missing out on the opportunity for European travel. He won after unsuccessfully entering the prize five times.
“To be honest, the concept of going to Paris was daunting,” said the National Art School-trained artist. “For me, having more winners than one is really exciting – changing five lives instead of one.”
