If you’re new to McLeod’s Daughters, you might have one straightforward question: Who is ‘McLeod’?
We’ve dug through the family timeline to give you a rundown of who’s who in the McLeod family.
Jack McLeod
John ‘Jack’ McLeod was born in 1941 and was one of two children of Hamish and Henrietta McLeod. Hamish and Henrietta founded Drovers Run, and it’s believed that Henrietta ran the farm when Hamish passed away. Jack had four children, Claire, Adam (who was stillborn), Tess and Jodi, although it’s not revealed that Jodi is Jack’s daughter until later in the series.
Jack married Prudence Lachlan in 1968 and gave birth to their first daughter Claire McLeod in 1973. Prue passed away during complications in childbirth after her second child, Adam McLeod, was stillborn.

Jack later married Ruth Silverman, who gave birth to Tess Charlotte Silverman McLeod. For the first five years of Tess’ life, she lived on Drovers Run. Claire and Tess were best friends, playing together on the land. When Jack and Ruth’s marriage came to an end, Ruth took Tess to live in Melbourne, leaving Jack to raise Claire alone.

Jack passed away from a heart attack in 2001, leaving his treasured Drovers Run to his daughters Claire and Tess, which is where the television series kicks off.
Young Jack was played by Troy Gray in Season 4’s Fleshand Blood and Anthony Hayes in AMcLeod Daughter.
Claire McLeod
Claire Louise McLeod is the oldest McLeod Daughter, born in 1973. She was born to Jack McLeod and his first wife, Prudence McLeod.
When Claire was 15 years old, she dropped out of school to help her father run the farm. She was incredibly close to her father and struggled a lot after his death. Claire would sometimes forget that he was gone and go to talk to him. After his death, Claire was determined to not give up Drovers Run. Claire had help from Becky, a young farmhand and Meg, the housekeeper who had a loyal relationship with her father. She also, initially, had a difficult time reconnecting with her sister, Tess.

One year after Jack’s death, Claire began a relationship with Peter Johnson, but it quickly ends when she discovers that he is married with children. Shortly after their breakup, Claire found that she was pregnant with Peter’s child, and gave birth to BOM’ Baby of McLeod’ in the third season. BOM is given the name Charlotte Prudence McLeod. Charlotte is Tess’ middle name, and Prudence is named after Claire’s mother.
In 2004, Claire died in a car accident which involved Tess and Charlotte. She died not knowing that she had three long-lost cousins and a secret sister.
Tess Silverman-McLeod
After Prue’s death, Jack remarried Ruth Silverman and quickly fell pregnant. Tess Charlotte Silverman-McLeod was born on Drover’s Run, but she and her mother moved to Melbourne when she was quite young when Jack and Ruth split.
Claire and Tess wouldn’t see each other again until Jack’s death, almost twenty years later.

Tess returned to Drovers Run two decades later, following the death of her father. City-slicker Tess considered selling her share and remaining in the city, but then decided to stay on and help run the farm. The ownership and future of Drovers is a source of contention for the McLeod’s sisters early in the series. Eventually, Tess found her place in Drover’s Run.
Tess married Nick Ryan (Myles Pollard) in 2006 before the pair moved to Argentina. It’s revealed later in the series that Tess gave birth to a baby girl she named Claire.
Jodi Fountain-McLeod
Jodi was born and raised Drovers Run and is very close to her mother, Meg. For the first 22 years of Jodi’s life, she believed another man was her father, but Meg was very close to Jack, and he even paid or all of her school fees.

Hugh, Grace, Regan and Jazmin McLeod
Hugh McLeod is the younger brother of Jack McLeod. Jack and Hugh had a complicated past.
We learn that Hugh was engaged to Claire’s mother, Prue, but she began a passionate affair with Jack. After Hugh discovered the affair, he left Drovers Run and never returned.
Grace, Regan and Jazmin are Hugh’s three daughters. Jaz arrived in Drovers Run to scatter her father’s ashes two years after his death. she never knew that Drovers Run was a real place.
