Canon’s line-up is starting to bulk out with some incredible mirrorless bodies, not to mention still arguably leading the way with DSLRs, so which should you buy?
Some of you may know that for the most part, I jumped ship from Canon. I still have a couple of older Canon bodies as well as a smattering of lenses, but my workhorse body is Sony, as are many of my most used lenses. So it might come as something of a surprise to see me write that I have truly been waiting for Canon to make me regret that decision. Their releases have been lackluster to my eye for the most part, until recently when they went fully Spinal Tap on their innovation dial.
On the lower end of that is the Canon 5D IV, which is still one of the best DSLRs on the market. Then there is the toe in the mirrorless waters with the EOS R, which had a mixed reception. However, the exciting cameras (and lenses) are the new mirrorless releases coming soon. With all of these options, it might be difficult to know in which direction you ought to upgrade. If you have a DSLR, is it worth staying with DSLRs, for instance? On the other side of the debate, is it worth getting an EOS R now or waiting until the R5 and R6s come out with their rumored titanic specs?
What do you think? Will you be going into Canon mirrorless cameras? Do you already have the EOS R and are thinking of upgrading to the R5 or R6? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
