People in Somerset and across the UK may get the rare opportunity to see Saturn in the night sky tonight (July 20).
The planet will be at its brightest during 2020 tonight because Earth will pass between the Sun and Saturn.
Astronomers have described the moment when Earth lies between a planet – on this occasion Saturn – and the Sun as the ‘opposition’.
Both Saturn and the sun will appear in opposite directions when viewed from the Earth – a situation that occurred with Jupiter on July 14.
