Wet New Year’s Eve forecast for Brisbane as showers return

Forecaster Pieter Claassen said the change would be triggered by a high-pressure ridge in the Tasman Sea that would also produce cooler temperatures.
“From Tuesday afternoon onwards, we will see the showers return,” Mr Claassen said.
“That is looking likely throughout the Brisbane region, where Brisbane will see up to 30 millimetres.
“Further north, they could get a lot more than 30 millimetres on the Central Queensland coast, possibly around 100 millimetres.”
Brisbane’s maximum temperature was forecast to reach 29 degrees on Sunday and 31 on Monday, however the weather bureau was tipping a maximum temperature of just 25 degrees on Thursday, and only 26 degrees on New Year’s Day on Friday.
