West End family leads resident campaign against proposed UQ green bridge

In the early 2000s, plans to use Boundary Street were again scuttled when a Brisbane metro idea was proposed.
A fortnight ago Brisbane City Council came to the Paltoglou family in Boundary Street and offered to resume their 11-year old home – and the home of their two neighbours – if the Option C green bridge from St Lucia to West End went ahead.
Option B is proposed for mid-Ryan Street, West End, across to St Lucia while Option A runs from Guyatt Park at St Lucia into West End’s Orleigh Park.
Jim Paltoglou, who has lived in the area for more than 60 years, said the council told them the green bridge was proposed for the same alignment as the failed Briztram and would be higher than their house.
