Wesfarmers backs lithium mine with $950m in start-up funds – The Australian Financial Review
Wesfarmers will proceed with a lithium mine in WA as more countries phase out petrol vehicles and urge drivers to buy electric cars.
The project capitalises on our chemicals, energy and fertilisers divisionschemical processing expertise and Western Australias unique position to support growing global demand for electric vehicle battery materials which will make a crucial contribution to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, he said.
Investors have been sceptical over whether Wesfarmers will suffer cost blow-outs during its push into battery metals mining and processing.
