There was a sensation at Sale on Sunday – and uproar from punters – after a well-backed winner was disqualified after jockey Michael Walker weighed in light.
Richard Laming-trained Excelman ($3.30 – $2.70) bolted in to the cheers of punters but there was high drama to follow.
Stewards disqualified the winner for carrying 1kg less than allocated weight under a racing rule which allows a tolerance of 0.5kg.
