The BMW has a massive horsepower advantage over the 911 Carrera and a quicker claimed 0-60 time. It doesn’t seem to matter.
The concept of forcing the new BMW M4 Competition to duke it out with a Porsche 911 on a drag strip sounds ridiculous. Of course the purebred will beat the sports coupe that shares its base DNA with a diesel family wagon. Yet the specs favor the M4 Competition here: its 503-hp output shames the Porsche’s 380. And, because the Porsche Carrera non-S doesn’t even have the Sport Chrono Package, there’s no launch control. So according to manufacturer numbers, the M4 should dispatch 0-60 in 3.9 seconds…
