Warrant issued for alleged Rundle Mall pigs vandal who failed to appear before court

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Adelaide man accused of vandalising four pig sculptures in Rundle Mall.

Mark Eugene Brookes is accused of etching several letters and phrases on the pigs, including the words “Liberal Party” and “death”, in September.

Police charged the 66-year-old Huntfield Heights man with causing property damage, and he was bailed to appear in court on January 8.

But he did not appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court this morning for a scheduled hearing.

In October, police said the pigs were damaged by a substance that “caused extensive corrosive damage”.

The pigs, officially called “A Day Out”, have been part of the popular shopping strip since their installation in 1999.
