Warner brutally axed as Sunrisers captain in bombshell IPL move – Fox Sports
David Warner has been axed as captain of Indian Premier League franchise the Sunrisers Hyderabad and replaced with Kane Williamson.
The club released the statement on Saturday night, confirming the Aussie opener would no longer captain the side, with immediate effect.
Warner captained the Sunrisers to their first IPL title in 2016 but was replaced as captain following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, with Williamson filling the role in 2018 and 2019 before the Aussie was reinstated last year.
