WA Premier warns of possible hard border reintroduction as NSW case numbers grow

WA Premier Mark McGowan says there is a “prospect” the state’s hard border with New South Wales could be reintroduced, but no decision will be made until health authorities learn how significant the spread of COVID-19 may be.

Five cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW over the past two days, all found on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Mr McGowan said he was confident flights from Sydney could continue to arrive into Perth today.

“It’s very low risk at this point in time, very, very low risk,” Mr McGowan said.

“But it just depends upon whether or not there has been significant spread of the virus in Sydney and we’re just awaiting clarity on that.”
