WA Premier stamps authority on Labor with ministry purge after colossal election win
Just in case there was any doubt about who was running the show, WA Premier Mark McGowan just stamped his authority in emphatic fashion.
No one individual has enjoyed this much power in the West Australian Labor Party for a very long time, if ever.
Labor leaders in WA have long had their power curtailed by union and factional leaders, having to make do with the teams they’re given by the party’s caucus, save for maybe a couple of captain’s calls.
But off the back of the most astounding election result in the state’s history, Mr McGowan’s dominance in his own party is now unquestioned.
The Labor Party is now, very firmly, his.
