There has been an increase in cases of syphilis across a number of Melbourne areas, despite the city spending most of 2020 in lockdown.
There has been a worrying increase in cases of syphilis across a number of Melbourne areas.
On Monday, the Victorian health department released data on infectious diseases, which showed the state had 1410 confirmed cases of syphilis in the past 12 months.
More than 570 of those infections are from this year alone.
There were around 200 more syphilis cases in 2019 to 2020, but Victoria spent much of last year in a lockdown.
A number of Melbourne hotspots have been identified by Victorias health department.
