Victoria weighs tighter rules for hotspots – The Australian Financial Review
The Victorian government is examining banning particular activities in hotspots after recording a “deeply concerning” 238 new cases and after police issued $1 million in fines to people flouting the rules.
Victoria Police have issued 546 infringement notices worth more than $900,000 under the latest stage-three lockdown and said they had found parties, poker games, people playing Pokémon and others hiding in “cupboards and garages”.
“If … people do not do the right thing, then we will have to move to additional restrictions being put in place, and we will have to potentially prolong the period where those restrictions are in place, nobody wants that,” Mr Andrews said.
