Victoria will build one of the world’s biggest lithium-ion batteries in a state government push to transition to renewable energy and create jobs as the economy recovers from COVID-19.
At a combined daily coronavirus briefing and pre-budget funding announcement on Thursday, Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said construction of the 300-megawatt battery would create 85 jobs. It will be installed near the Moorabool Terminal Station, just outside Geelong.
