Victoria Police has lost its bid to keep secret whether gangland lawyer Joseph Acquaro was acting as a snitch for two jailed drug traffickers.

Convicted drug smugglers Francesco (Frank) Madafferi and Saverio Zirilli are both vying to have their lengthy sentences quashed after being represented by police informer Nicola Gobbo.
But the pair also want to know whether another one of their lawyers, Mr Acquaro, was providing police with information about his clients.
