Police are investigating after a car drove erratically and sped down Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

Victoria Police said officers tried to pull over a green Toyota Corolla at Bourke Street near Swanston Street at about 4:55pm on Thursday.

However, police said the car “mounted a kerb and sped off”.

“The vehicle was followed by the Victoria Police Air Wing and last sighted in the St Kilda area,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“Investigations into the incident remain ongoing and the vehicle remains outstanding.
