As China and Australia enter a diplomatic stalemate, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has warned the dispute is having a serious economic effect.

Diplomatic hostilities reached a new low this week when Prime Minister Scott Morrison called a hastily convened press conference on Monday to respond to a fabricated image sent by a Chinese foreign affairs official accusing Australian soldiers of murdering Afghan children.
