This was never more evident than at Royal Randwick on Saturday when Verry Elleegant had defeat staring at her but somehow had her nose in front on the line in the Group 1 $600,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m).
In what was one of the most exciting finishes to a feature race in years, anyone of five elite horses had their chance to win.
