Hello again, CyclingTips readers,
After a delayed start to this years WorldTour calendar, the first top-tier race of the 2021 season is finally underway in the UAE, with Mathieu van der Poel coming out on top on a windy day that buried many GC hopes in the desert.
Half a world away, the snappily-titled Tour des Alpes et Maritimes et du Var served up three days of scintillating racing and the first COVID-scare of the season.
