US politics live updates: Electoral college meeting now as Donald Trump loses more court challenges

Electoral college update: Biden 202 – Trump 174
Here’s the state of play as we kick off the blog this morning folks.
The electoral college isn’t all meeting in a single place. The electors are gathering in their respective states and casting their ballots one by one. Some states started early, others will meet later today. Basically, results are going to trickle in.
So every time they do, I’ll hit you with a little update like this one to keep you in the loop.
Remember, 270 is the magic number for Biden to formally be declared the winner. The US media called 306 electoral college votes for Biden, 232 for Trump.
