US lifts former president Donald Trump’s sanctions on ICC prosecutor, court official
The United States has lifted sanctions on International Criminal Court prosecutor Fatou Bensouda that drew international criticism after they were imposed by the administration of former president Donald Trump.
Key points:
- The State Department also terminated visa restrictions on ICC personnel
- Washington said it continued “to disagree strongly with the ICC’s actions” in regards to Afghanistan and Palestine
- The Trump administration last year accused the ICC of infringing on US national sovereignty
