Police have charged a man with murder following an altercation in Innisfail overnight causing the death of another man.
Investigations indicate at around 2.20am, two men became involved in a verbal altercation at a taxi rank on Edith Street.
The altercation became physical when one of the men allegedly punched the other to the side of his head multiple times.
A 28-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.
A 30-year-old Innisfail man has been charged with one count of murder. The man appeared in Innisfail Magistrates Court today (December 19). He is been remanded in custody and will next appear on January 11.
Investigations are continuing.
