Union investigating class action against McDonald’s for failing to provide breaks – Sydney Morning Herald
The retail and fast food workers’ union estimates at least 250,000 McDonald’s employees have been denied 10-minute breaks since 2014.
“We’re very confident it’s in excess of 250,000 workers,” Mr Cullinan said, adding that this estimate is based on McDonald’s having 100,000 workers Australia-wide, a 40 per cent turnover, and an average employee tenure of 1.6 years.
One of the affected workers is Darcy Dunlop, 22, who started working at McDonald’s at Erina on the NSW Central Coast when he was 16 and eventually became an Area Leader.
