UK to enter third national lockdown as coronavirus spirals out of control – Sydney Morning Herald
Prime Minister Boris Johnson warns the coming weeks will be “the hardest yet” in the pandemic as he orders third lockdown.

He said England would return to its toughest lockdown since the one imposed at the start of the pandemic last March. People will only be legally allowed to leave their homes to shop for essentials, get medical treatment, escape domestic abuse or go to work when absolutely necessary.
Schools will also be closed despite government ministers repeatedly arguing the societal costs of denying face-to-face education is not worth the benefits of closing them.
