The Department of Health has released its latest figures showing two more people have died in the past 24 hours – but new cases are again above 1,000

The UK’s official coronavirus death toll has risen by two in the last 24 hours but new cases are again above 1,000.
This is the lowest death toll on a Friday since lockdown began but marks the second day in a row where new cases have been above 1,000 as 1,033 new positive tests are reported by the Department of Health.
Yesterday 1,182 new cases were reported, with a death toll of six.
On Wednesday, 6 deaths were recorded in all settings, with 821 cases recorded in a 24-hour period.
