How it was changed before getting green light
NRL clubs will be allowed to use an 18th man in the event that they lose three players to concussions, or one to foul play, effective immediately.
The substitute player must be a part of the 21-man squad selected for game day, and clubs must identify the player when final team sheets are provided before kick-off.
“Player wellbeing is a priority for the Commission and this additional safety net ensures players continue to be protected,” ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys said.
