It might be coincidental, but it is certainly fitting that the sound of a violin played through a bull kelp amplifier has an “underwater” quality to it.
It is also a reward for the improvisational bent of Tasmanian musician and composer Emily Sheppard who will showcase the sound for the first time in a live setting at Tunes in the Tulips festival at Wynyard in the state’s north-west on Saturday.
