Truck fire closes lanes on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway at Doncaster

A large truck fire has shut all lanes on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway at Doncaster and prompted a smoke warning for surrounding suburbs.
The freeway is closed in both directions between Doncaster Road and Tram Road after the fire broke out shortly before 11:00am.
Emergency services are on the scene directing traffic.
Helicopter vision showed a fire truck and several firefighters hosing down a large truck that was engulfed in flames.
Authorities say there is no threat to nearby communities, but those sensitive to smoke in Balwyn North, Box Hill North, Doncaster, Mont Albert North and Box Hill should close windows and doors to prevent smoke entering the home.
More to come.
