‘He’s coming to a club that’s got some backbone’
Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has launched a robust defence of Matt Burton’s signing after sniping from the Penrith Panthers.
Penrith, Barrett’s old club and Burton’s current outfit, are adamant that the young star would be better off staying put rather than going to the battling Bulldogs on a three-year contract from next season.
“I speak to Matty regularly,” Barrett said on Saturday night after his team won its first game under his reign, an 18-12 defeat of Cronulla.
