Advocates have applied to make the drugs legally available in therapy sessions to speed-up treatment.

In recent years, groundbreaking research into the therapeutic benefits of psychoactive drugs has opened up the possibility that psilocybin (found in magic mushrooms) or MDMA could be used to treat mental illnesses.
Now Mind Medicine Australia, a not-for-profit that wants psychiatrists to be able to use these drugs in therapy sessions, has applied to the national health regulator to enable mental health professionals to more easily access these medicines.
