Toyota files patent for twin-turbo V8 engine, could power Lexus F range – Drive
A patent has been discovered for a new twin-turbo V8 Toyota engine in the United States, potentially firming-up persistent rumours of a high-powered group of Lexus…
Additionally, the document describes a twin-turbo configuration as well as a single-turbo set-up. Considering the attached figure, as well as the wording the two turbochargers are installed on the cylinder block, its expected that the design will be a Hot V layout, in which the turbos live within the V of the engine. That said, Toyota also gives itself licence to mount the turbos in the more conventional location, beside the engine.
