Today is International Coffee Day – so, how do you take your coffee?
“A medium soy latte please… hold the cocaine.”
This consignment of coffee pods, seized in 2019, was guaranteed to give you ‘that morning
buzz’.Our officers at the Melbourne Mail Centre knew there was trouble brewing after X-rays revealed anomalies in boxes of coffee pods.
A white powder was found in 12 of the pods and tests confirmed the substance to be cocaine.
The 158 grams of cocaine had a potential street value of approximately $60,000 – the equivalent of 12,000 medium soy lattes, but far more harmful if it had made it into the Australian community!
