Three dead in three separate water accidents in Perth waters

It has been a deadly day on Perth waters, with three deaths in the space of several hours.
Key points:
- Two of the men died while fishing for abalone
- Another man later died when two vessels collided
- Police described Saturday as “a dark day” and urged people to take appropriate caution
The first occurred shortly before 8:00am when a man in his 50s, fishing for abalone with friends and family at Mettam’s Pool at North Beach, was discovered unconscious in the water.
Efforts to revive him by both Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club members and Whitford Sea Rescue failed.
A short time later and several kilometres to the north a man in his 70s was on a reef fishing for abalone when he became distressed.
His family pulled him onto a boat and commenced CPR.
