This two-storey shop and dwelling was built circa 1877, probably by owner William Udale, a carpenter. Situated in populous Petrie Terrace and fronting a busy intersection, the shop was occupied by a pawnbrokers’ and dealers’ business from the 1880s until the mid-1910s, while the proprietors lived on the floor above.
