These two photos illustrate how Ann Street was lowered by at least 3 metres where it once passed over Duncan’s Hill in Fortitude Valley.

Fascinated by the difference in these photos of the Ann Street Gateway and Almonry at All Hallows, 1886 compared with 2009. Note how in the 1886 image Ann Street is almost level with the two lower windows in the centre. In the 2009 image, The Gateway and Ann Street are at least 3 metres lower!
