‘The worst 12 months of my life’: Fogo Brazilia franchisees seek compensation – Sydney Morning Herald
Franchisees like Luis and Amelia Dominguez invested up to $1.2 million including labour in their Fogo businesses before the franchisor company went into liquidation in 2018.
After selling their house in England they moved to Australia and invested in a fast-food franchise. Mrs Dominguez, who is Australian, and her English husband bought a Fogo Brazilia franchise in Penrith.
The business was based in the food court of a shopping centre and served Brazilian style fire-cooked high quality meat dishes for about $15.
Within a year, the pair walked away from the business more than $240,000 out of pocket in June 2017.
