The weather bureau is warning South East Queenslanders to brace for wild weather this weekend.

Torrential rain is predicted to hit the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast with the potential for flash flooding, gale-force winds and dangerous surf. Some areas could see totals of up to 200 millimetres, with much of it falling on Sunday.

“This rainfall event is the first sort of significant fall for that area for this season.” – Bureau of Meteorology, Laura Boekel.
