Major chocolate companies have committed to help eradicate child labour from their supply chains as consumers and governments become more and more concerned about the origin of their food. The European Union plans to introduce legislation that could eventually make firms responsible for human rights abuses and environmental harm in their supply chain, while US lawmakers have proposed banning imports of cocoa from produced with child labour.
