The story of the Queen’s hidden cousins is incredibly sad, and it’s a new story for much of the world. But for the royal family, and anyone living near Royal Earlswood Mental Hospital, Surrey, it’s old news.
For decades, people in the community knew all about the dreadful “open secret” the royals hid there. That two middle aged women, who were inmates at the local “Asylum for Mental Defectives,” were close relatives of Queen Elizabeth.
