The sub is back — but different to last time: AFL makes call on controversial rule
The AFL has introduced a medical sub for the 2021 season, just over 24 hours before the first game of Round 1.
As reported by foxfooty.com.au on Wednesday morning, AFL football operations boss Steve Hocking confirmed the news to club football managers at an 11am meeting.
The meeting was initially scheduled for 3pm on Tuesday, then 6pm, before being postponed until Wednesday as the league worked through details of the sub.
