The Star’s local casinos rebound after COVID-19 hit – The Australian Financial Review

Revenue from local gamblers is rebounding nicely at The Star’s Sydney and Queensland casinos, after COVID-19 smashed its 2020 profit.

Evans & Partners analysts Sacha Krien said revenue since reopening had been strong. “This is largely expected … but EBITDA margins are probably better than expected, in line with last year.”
While the closure of the border between Queensland and NSW is notionally bad news for The Star’s casinos on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, Mr Bekier said it was in the company’s best interest to keep them shut if the health crisis demanded it.
