The discount retail chain has been forced to temper investor expectations after persistently weak sales at its inner city and shopping centre stores.

On Thursday, Wesfarmers chief executive Rob Scott made similar comments, pushing the need for a speedier vaccination program and calling the continued lockdowns incredibly damaging.
What has become apparent is that it is almost impossible to contain COVID and fully put walls up around the country, which is just not viable. So the vaccination program is going to be critical, he said.
