The US, Russia and China each claim they’re in the lead. Here’s why they want to be first.
“Giving a helping hand in forging the sword of victory,” reads the post, alongside pictures of workers that helped informally “pre-test” a COVID-19 vaccine before the first human trials.
The boast came from the State-owned Chinese drug-maker SinoPharm, which says that 30 “special volunteers”, including upper management, had rolled up their sleeves even before the company got permission for its initial human study.
