The Mole: Valentine Holmes to miss Roosters clash after training injury – Wide World of Sports
Training incident sidelines Cowboys superstar
A bad week for Cowboys superstar Valentine Holmes has just got a whole lot worse.
Shifted to the wing for tomorrow night’s big clash with the Roosters, Holmes broke down at training and is being given virtually no chance of playing.
The former Sharks and Test star has been carrying an ankle injury, which is the reason coach Paul Green shifted him to the wing when he named his team yesterday.
Green brought boom youngster Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in at fullback, shunting Holmes to the flank.
But the former NFL convert aggravated the ankle at training and could be out for as long as three weeks.
Holmes had been making a successful return to the NRL with the Cowboys after a stint in the NFL with the New York Jets before suffering the ankle sprain.
The injury is also a huge blow to the Cowboys, who were thumped 42-4 by Parramatta last weekend and have won just three of their eight games to date this season.
